The term Lampwork comes from when the glass was worked over lamps a few centuries ago.

Handcrafted in our home in Holton, Kansas, colored rods of Moretti Italian Glass are heated in a torch until molten and then, wound on a stainless steel rod called a mandrel. Other colors of glass are added for decoration. Then, slowly cooled for lasting strength and beauty.

Most of our beads are made on a 1/16" mandrel, which is good for most wires used in making bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Most sets are in the 9 - 12mm range. Please inquire about different sizes and larger holes if you are using other stringing material, such as hemp or leather.
